Meet The Team
Procurement & Acquisition
Layne brings over two decades of experience in the Real Estate Investment and Development field. His main areas of expertise are the acquisition, planning, and structuring of investment strategies for residential, commercial and industrial real estate assets.
Layne has been an integral member of the management team with Pacific Investments & Development Ltd for over 24 years. Layne has assisted in the management of real estate projects ranging from 20 acres to 1000 acres and valued at over $100 million. Over the course of his career he has raised more than $250 million in private investment across 22 real estate projects.
Layne oversees all new procurement opportunities for StoreWest. His contacts within the real estate community, combined with experience in valuation, permitting, and acquisition, provide StoreWest with the opportunity to continually source new and exciting opportunities.
Business Development and Indigenous relations
Ray is currently the COO at Duke Fire Services Corp, one of the only aboriginal owned fire services companies in Canada. Under Ray’s stewardship, the company has combined solid service with indigenous engagement to grow the business exponentially over the past six years. On a personal note, Ray maintains an active involvement within both local and national indigenous communities.
Currently, Ray is one of the main forces behind The World's Longest Indigenous Hockey Game, a Canada-wide event which will be a Guinness Record for both the longest game and longest Indigenous game. Ray brings over 17 years of field operations, sales, indigenous relations and equipment manufacturing to the StoreWest Team.
One of StoreWest’s goals is to build relationships and opportunities within the Indigenous community in Canada. One of Ray’s roles is to help guide this process.
Vice President Finance
Steve brings over 15 years of experience in finance and business development in the private capital markets. As VP Finance, Steve is focused on equity procurement, financing, and investor relations for StoreWest.
In addition to his role with StoreWest, Steve is also the VP of Business Development for Robson Financial based out of Vancouver. Robson Financial is part of the Hillcore Group of companies with approximately $4.5billion AUM. Prior to joining Hillcore, Steve was VP of the Capita Funds Asset Management platform with approximately $800 million AUM.
Steve is currently working on his Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Designation and has completed the Petroleum Joint Venture Analyst Designation and Chartered Investment Management Designation.
Roland has been involved in sales and business development for over 20 years, and has been in real estate since 2003. He spent a decade in private equity, and was formerly a VP with one of North America’s largest real estate based equity firms with assets in the billions. In this role, Roland managed a division with over 30 employees and annual sales of $100M across three provinces.
As President of StoreWest, Roland has overseen the funding and development of $40M in land and facilities over the past 4 years. In his role as President for the StoreWest group of companies, Roland oversees all facets of the business, while also focusing on defining StoreWest’s growth strategy and the strategic relationships needed to realize that strategy.
Matt has been investing in real estate since 2000 and in self storage since 2012. He built an extensive real estate business as a licensed agent over 15 years while growing his investment portfolio.
Matt is a member in good standing and is certified in Operations and Management by the Canadian Self Storage Association (CSSA). Additionally, Matt is a member of both the ICA (International Car Wash Association) and CCA (Canadian Car Wash Association), and has successfully completed his Car Wash Management Certification Program.
In addition to contributing his experience on acquisitions, Matt oversees operations at the facility level for the StoreWest Group of Companies. In particular, he is focused on all aspects of the car & truck wash business – from equipment through to marketing.
Chief Development Officer
Scott brings significant project management and operations management experience to the StoreWest team. In his role as Chief Development Officer, Scott oversees planning and development on all of StoreWest’s projects.
In addition to his role with StoreWest, Scott is Vice President of Business Development with Sussex Retirement Living. Sussex is a prominent North American retirement living residence developer with a portfolio valued at well over $500 million.
Scott also has a strong understanding of the private capital markets, with over 18 years of experience in private equity. Prior to Sussex, Scott was the President and Managing Partner of i9 Capital Consulting Group, which stewarded over $250 million worth of private capital placements.
